I'm crawling back to the (semi) real world this week. The beach was a much needed escape from my perpetual worrying, but I'm hoping to leave some of that worrying to yesterday. I have been in Pennsylvania for just shy of a month now, and I have to say that it has been both incredible and challenging in unexpected ways. I was not prepared for how difficult it would be for me to write. I honestly think a large part of it is that June marks six months of The 52 Project. I'm not sure I have ever completed any sort of self-imposed project before. Now I know why...It's hard! Hah! But I guess everything worth doing is at least a little bit difficult. This just happens to be making me crazy...
I've been trying to figure out what is holding me back. Why is it so difficult to write? Then, I came across a quote (when I was scrolling through facebook avoiding my notebook). The quote has stuck with me the last couple of days, and I think it shed some light on my ever-present writer's block...

For a star to be born, | When you're in a new place, it is hard to let yourself collapse and crumble. It's hard to allow yourself that vulnerability, even when no one is around. I saw this quote and I was a little convicted by it. I haven't been letting myself collapse into these songs, and it has completely transformed my relationship with my music (but in the wrong direction). I just need to remind myself (over and over again) that..No one is saved by you keeping yourself "together." And I'll leave it at that. |
