With that being said, I have been thinking about what my favorite album from 2014 has been. It has been a tough journey with honorable mentions such as Taylor Swift’s 1989 and Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour, but I have narrowed it down to two. (Because I couldn’t actually just pick one! ha!)
The two albums that moved me the most this year are Ed Sheeran’s Multiply and You+Me’s rose ave. I picked these two albums because every last song on each of them is contagious, heartbreaking, or both all at the same time. Each of these 22 combined songs has made me feel something, and to me, that’s what music is all about!
My favorite songs from these albums:
Ed Sheeran- Multiply : My favorite song from this album is probably going to have to be “One.” This song broke my heart the first time I heard it. It is beautifully tainted with the memory of driving to the airport when I desperately did not want to leave. This song was playing softly in the car, and if I close my eyes, I can still see the Philadelphia sky line when I hear it. For me, this song is a reminder that I can survive getting on that plane (despite what every cell in my body is trying to tell me.)
You+Me - rose ave. : As of now, my favorite song from this album is “Break the Cycle.” I am a sucker for sad songs, and just the very beginning of this one makes every part of me ache! The lyrics are absolutely stunning. I hope you all go out and listen to this because “love is louder than all your pain.”
What a beautiful beautiful message! <3
