ABOUT ME
Hi!
My name is Sierra Rose. I am a singer-songwriter, and I have been writing songs since I was about five. It has always been my way of processing life. I grew up going to concerts, movies, plays, musicals, etc. So, I have been taking mental notes my entire life of how I want to do things as a musician. I have learned a lot about this industry just from watching from the sidelines, but these last few year, I have really begun to take a more active role in this thing.
I am going to take you back to what I would call the very beginning of this wonderful journey. When I was about 6 years old, Mark Schultz was touring for his album "Song Cinema." He was my very favorite singer. I spent the first 6 years of my life listening to K-LOVE in the car, and quickly falling in love with music, and the power it can hold.
Anyway, my dad got us tickets to see Mark Schultz that year. It is the first concert I can specifically recall. I remember that I was wearing a navy blue sparkly dress, that I scream/sang along as loud as I could to every song (and my dad having to apologize to the woman next to me for how loud I was). I remember being completely captivated. I heard that small still voice deep in my heart saying to me "This is where I am calling you. This is what you are to do with your life."
I walked out of the theater that night and I was convinced that the next step was that I had to learn to play piano, because Mark Schultz does. I remember telling my mom, while we were driving somewhere later that week, that I desperately wanted to start taking piano lessons. And for whatever reason, my parents took me seriously. They looked at their six year old daughter and decided that they would find a way to pay for lessons, and I am so thankful they did.
So I took (classical) piano lessons for the majority of my life, and I continued writing throughout the years. I picked up a guitar at about 14, and started writing songs with it. They were a little rocky at first, but there was a distinct point where I wrote a song called "A Slight Chill," and felt like "Okay…I can do this. I can be a musician. I can write songs."
Then, when I was about 15, I auditioned for AMTC (Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ), and by the grace of God, got in. For the next six months, my dad would drive me to Dallas, TX about once a week so I could participate in training for acting, modeling, and music. In those six months, I grew more as a musician (and actor) than I had my entire life up until that point. It was one of the most incredible times in my life.
At the end of those six months, AMTC hosted an event called "SHINE," in Florida, where I got the opportunity to perform for around 1,000 talent scouts, agents, managers, record labels, acting schools, etc. I received call backs from TMG, which is where I ended up recording my first album, and The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts where I received a scholarship for their Summer program.
Those are simply the highlights of this incredible journey so far. God has blessed so graciously with the support of my wonderful family, fiance, and friends, and I am eternally thankful for that. I know, without a doubt, that this is what I am called to do. I am so excited to see what will happen next.
